The fair is at the Wyndham hotel, and every room on 4 floors is occupied by an artist or gallery showing their works. It’s a great concept, but it works much better in Miami for Art Basel with its open, art deco hotels. The Wyndham is pretty drab.
One room was very fun with hay bales and hay all over the floor. Walking into the room shown here, it was an odd sight to see all these people lying on the bed staring at the ceiling. A video of x-rays was projected there.
Restaurants in NY are required to hang a poster on how to assist people that are choking. Up to yesterday, the only version I’ve seen of this is the garish yellow and red poster.
At Txikito last night, I was struck by a stylish and entertaining version of this poster done in blue ink below. I asked the bartender about it, and, surprisingly, he knew the name of the artist who did it, Alex Holden. I love the panel that’s the second from the right on the bottom with a guy getting the Heimlich and having a fish pop out of his mouth and his hat popping off his head.
