Tortilla soup and ceviche at Chilango in San Francisco

Img00263-20111123-1932

Every time I go home, getting some good Mexican food is a top priority. The ceviche and the mole are really good at Chilango. The tortilla soup was just meh.

Last motorcycle ride of the season

Sunday was the last day I could rent a motorcycle before Jupiter’s closed for the season, and I took out a BMW G 650 GS.

First I ran up to Bear Mountain and found a lot of other riders that had the same idea. I took a walk through the woods, off the trail, and I really enjoyed listening to the breeze rustle the leaves in the trees. I also saw a family of deer.

The leaves had already turned, and there were some striking yellows and reds along the road. I crossed the Hudson and drove up to Beacon, where there was some cool art on the streets. I was pleasantly surprised to see my friend Faust had a piece in Electric Windows. You can see it in the upper left.

Of course part of the reason I was in Beacon was to go to the Dia Beacon museum. The pictures speak for themselves.

Tasty short rib hash at Buttermilk Channel in Carroll Gardens

Img00243-20111113-1017

Woke up early today and had time to get breakfast before I picked up a motorcycle. I decided to try Buttermilk Channel, which had the best reviews on Yelp. I was the 2nd person in the door when they opened at 10, and, within 20 minutes, every seat was taken. As per the dumb law, they don’t serve alcohol before noon, but I got to try the house cured pickle they use in their bloody marys. Delicious. Crisp, clean, and with a perfect tang. Would buy a bunch to go if I could.

He’s dead, Jim!

I discovered this funny error message today in the Chrome browser when I used the Chrome task manager (in the tools menu) to end a process.

I shouldn't have to tell you what classic TV show this is from.

A perfect brunch experience

Sitting outside at 7A facing Tompkins Square Park on a beautiful Fall day, my usual executed perfectly including the toast, reading New Yorker, drinking a bloody mary, and sitting next to highly entertaining East Village characters. I wish I could capture this moment in amber.
